A Winter Wonderland Valentine

I mentioned a while back that I had to make my mom some little Valentine's Day cards to give to her guests at the B&B, and since her theme is a winter wonderland Valentine's, I made he some snowflakes as well.  I'm sharing today what I made for her.

This is the mini card, and she will put these in the guest rooms.
Details (most products used here are SU unless otherwise noted):
Base - 4"x3" Bashful Blue cardstock
Layer - 3 7/8" x 2 7/8" Night of Navy cardstock
embossed snowflakes - Serene Snowflakes set, versamark, Ranger Bridal Tinsel embossing powder
Ribbon - Real Red 5/8" satin
Label on front - decorative label punch in bashful blue; wide oval punch in night of navy then embossed with vintage wallpaper embossing folder; I {heart} hearts stamp set, stamped in real red, then punched out with heart to heart punch.  This label is then attached to the card using dimensionals.

Inside the heart is stamped with I {heart} hearts stamp set in bashful blue ink, but stamped off once and then stamped on the inside.  The quote is from Occasional Quotes.

I made these snowflakes using my Cricut and the When It's Cold Outside cartridge.  I made 4 different snowflakes in 3 different sizes: 2.5", 3", and 3.5"  They are double sided so the outside snowflake it cut with just plain white cardstock, and the inside is bashful blue cardstock.  My mom will hang these from the ceiling in the dining room and throughout the lobby, along with some hearts that I made her last year.  I hope she takes pictures, I would love to see it all put together!

Best Wishes

I was working on something I wanted to post today, but I have a bit of a bad headache, bordering on migraine.  I wasn't able to finish it up yet, so I found a card a made a while ago that I haven't posted yet so I will share that today and hopefully I can get my other project done in time.

I originally made this card because I was challenging myself to use some stamps I had but never used.  That would be the flourishes I used for the background.  They are an old set from Autumn Leaves.  The color of the ink and cardstock is Almost Amethyst, retired, from Stampin' Up.  The ribbon is black satin from SU also and so is the Best wishes sentiment stamp, frame, and punch.  I need to find out the name of the stamp sets.  I'll have to come back and edit this once I find out.  I love this color and was so sad when SU decided to get rid of it :(  My favorite color is purple!

Teacher Card

Still have some projects I would like to share from last year.  This one was made for my sons preschool teacher when they graduated in June.  I had all the kids sign their names on the inside and then on the back I typed up a list of what their favorite thing about that teacher was. 

I used Locker Talk Cricut Cartridge and I tweaked it a bit with my Gypsy.  I chose the "my teacher" image from the cartridge but I didn't want it to say my teacher, I wanted it to say #1 teacher.  So I used the board and teacher from that image and then used the hide contour feature on the Gypsy to get rid of the "my."  Then I used the #1 from the #1 student image on another page and cut that to put with the teacher.  The size of the card is 5.5x8.5 - basically a sheet of 8.5x11 cardstock, scored and folded at 5 1/2. 

Watercolor Trio

A while ago I had to make a bunch of thank you cards for a gift package.  I knew I wanted something simple, but elegant.  Something that would be easy to make a lot of and not want to rip my hair out.

This is what I came up with:

The base size is a standard A2 size - 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.  I used my scor pal to make the embossed border, and out of everything that was the most time consuming out of everything.

Materials:
cardstock: kraft, white
ink: SU craft white, SU classic crumb cake
stamp set: SU Watercolor Trio

Thank you card

Tomorrow I have some family coming over for a little BBQ and I am really hoping Mother Nature will be kind and have the rain pass us by!  We don't get much company, don't know why, so when it does happen I get very excited that for once we aren't the ones doing the traveling.  Anyway, I've been pretty busy getting ready for our company, I only have this card I made a while ago to share.  I can't even find where I wrote down the details about it so I am going to do my best to remember what I used.

All the supplies I used were from Stampin' Up!
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Patterned Paper: DSP from Occasions Mini - can't remember the name, Sending Love maybe?
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Stamp Sets: Teeny Tiny Wishes, With All My Heart
Other: Chocolate Chip 5/8" satin ribbon, Fancy Flower punch, Curly Label punch

This past Valentine's Day my mom offered me a great oppurtunity!  She manages a very cute bed and breakfast and they were having a special valentine package for their guests.  She had certain ideas on what she wanted to do and asked me to help her out in creating a few things.  I got to work right away!

One of the things that she wanted was a way to package up some truffles that she can put out for the guests.  After cleaning out a closet I found a box of little favor boxes from my wedding almost 10 years ago!!  They were perfect to use for the truffles, but they definitely needed a bit of decorating.

The first idea I had was to put a band of patterened paper around the outside of the box.  I searched my stash and found some that would work perfectly. 

I also created a circle to go over where the paper meets, that way you can't see the seam

I used a stamp from SU! with versamark ink and clear embossing powder, then I spritzed the paper with some Glimmer Mist.

Once that was done I needed to work on the tops because it was way too plain!

I took plain black cardstock embossed with an embossing folder.  Layered on top was a cut from Storybook Cricut cartridge, which was then sprayed with Glimmer Mist (will need to go read my notes to find out the color).  The heart is also from Storybook, and the L is for Love is a SU! stamp.

Another request was a little valentine greeting card to leave in their rooms.

I did 5 cards each of 4 designs and colors.

Items used:

cardstock: whisper white, rich razzleberry, dusty durango, crushed curry, melon mambo (all SU!)

ink: basic black, rich razzleberry, dusty durango, crusged curry, melon mambo (all classic, SU!)

stamps: SU! I {Heart} Hearts, SU! Grateful Greetings (not available anymore)

Other: night and day speciality dsp (SU! not available anymore); 1/4" black grosgrain ribbon (SU!)

That last thing I had to do was make hearts for the guests so my could write their names on them.  Unfortunatey I don't have any pictures of them, but I used my Cricut to cut them out, sprayed the red cardsock with some Glimmer Mist, and then layered that on black cardstock.  I was so happy I was able to help my mom out and I hope I get more opportunities like this in the future.

Baby card

Today I am going to show a baby card I made for my friend who just had a baby girl!  The Cricut Cartridge Spotlight is postponed until tomorrow since I got a little behind because of the weekend I had.

This was actually really fun for me to make since this was the first girlie thing I got to create!!  I have 2 boys, the boys cousins are boys and my friend's other child is a boy!  Lots of testosterone around here!

All products are Stampin' Up!

Dimensions: cut at 5.5x8.5, scored at 4.25; top layer (pink) is 5.25x4

Paper: whisper white cardstock, pretty in pink cardstock, melon mambo cardstock

Ink: Staz On black, pretty in pink classic, melon mambo classic

Stamps: Fun & Fast Notes, Priceless

Other: melon mambo stampin' write marker, melon mambo .5" grosgrain ribbon, 1.25" square punch, scallop border punch, dimensionals

1. cut and score main card base

2. cut pink top layer and use scallop border punch on the bottom

3. stamped stroller image on whisper white with StazOn and colored it in with marker; stamped flowers on whisper white with classic ink

4. cut the stroller out to size of the image, punch out the flowers with the square punch

5. adhere those images on top of melon mambo cardstock - 1/8" border on all sides

6. used dimensionals to adhere the images to the pink cardstock

7. tie the ribbon around the pink layer cardstock (used the fake bow method for this one)

8. adhere the pink layer on top of the whisper white base

9. stamp the sentiment on the bottom below the scallop border

I'm also pretty excited because I am making her a first year scrapbook and I can't tell you how nice it is to work with other "girly" colors!  My pink papers are finally getting used!

Thank you card

I wanted to play with my Stampin' Around wheel and create something with it, so I came up with this thank you card

The whole thing was fairly simple and using the wheels with the ink cartridge for backgrounds is very neat!

1. cut and scored the very vanilla cardstock

2. wheeled on the background using the chocolate chip cartridge for the wheel

3. stamped "thank you" with chocolate chip ink on very vanilla

4. cut out "thank you" with circle punch

5. used designer label punch to punch out chocolate chip paper

6. used horizontal slot punch to put "slots" on each side of designer label

7. mounted thank you circle with dimensionals on the designer label

8. added the ribbon through the slots - it's attached to the back of the label, where it is then attached to the card.  On the inside of the card, I just taped the ribbon underneath to the cardstock so it wouldn't slip

Dimensions: 8.5"x11" cardstock, cut at 4.25"x11", scored at 5.5"
Paper: very vanilla cardstock (SU), chocolate chip cardstock (SU)
Ink: chocolate chip classic (SU)
Stamps: Baroque border wheel, Teeny Tiny Wishes

A Cricut Thank You: Part 2

It's time for part 2 of my Cricut thank you notes, and I have 4 more cards to show!


Brown cardstock sized at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" with the top pink layer cut to 5 1/4" x 4" and embossed with the Swiss Dots cuttlebug folder. The saying"how kind" was cut from the Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge and that was glued onto a bookplate also cut from the Lyrical Letters cartridge. I actually cut a couple of the bookplates and glued them on top of each other to make faux chipboard and give it some dimension. The ribbon is from the craft store, can't remember the brand.


This one actually came out a bit different than what I envisioned, but I didn't feel like starting over so I just went with it. This card was cut from the Wild Card cartridge as well as the Thank You sentiment. I put an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock on my mat and hit fit to page when doing the card, and it cut it to the size of 6 1/2". The window was part of the card and the frame that goes around the window is an accent piece to it. I then placed the "thank you" sentiment so it showed through the window.
I then just took some floss thread and threaded it through the buttons and used glue dots to stick it to the front of the card.


This one is another standard A2 sized card with black as my base. The top layer was made using Faded Jeans and Dusty Concord Distress Inks. The "thank you" is from the Storybook cartridge using the accent/frame option.


Yet another A2 sized card, but I used Chatterbox patterned paper as the top layer. The thanks was cut from the Mini Monograms cartridge and I glued that on top of a bookplate cut from the Fabulous Finds cartridge. I added 2 pink brads and stuck the whole thing on my card!


Another A2 card with a white cardstock base and some old patterned paper I had for the top layer. "You're the Best" is from Lyrical Letters. There isn't much else to say about this one! lol

My first Stampin' Up! card

I think I feel it....I think, maybe, possibly my mojo is coming back! At least I can only hope it is! Everything has been so hectic around here lately and my stress level is through the roof, but it seems like whenever I step into my little scrap corner all that tension just melts away.

I finally made my first Stampin' Up! card
I used the new Medallion stamp, which I just LOVE, and 3 of the new In Colors. The background cardstock is Dusty Durango, sized at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I then stamped the Medallion with Dusty Durango classic ink onto whisper white, which was cut to 5 1/4" x 4" The ribbon is Soft Suede and the was just tucked behind the whisper white and taped and then that whole piece was taped onto the card. I stamped the "just for you" sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set with Crushed Curry ink onto whisper white and punched that out with the word window punch. That was placed onto Crushed Curry paper cut with the curly label punch. Both were edged with Soft Suede ink around the edges with a sponge dauber. This was then placed on the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Now in other news...I have been thinking and working hard on coming up with new ideas for my blog. I really want to post more regularly and I have a couple things in the works. I will talk more about what is to come another time, when I get all my thoughts together. But I think it is going to be a lot of fun! I know I haven't posted a lot lately, but I am hoping to change that so I hope whoever is still here will please stick around! Thanks!

A Cricut Thank You: Part 1

After getting sidetracked by other things day after day, and dealing with technical difficulties, I am finally able to post the first part of my Cricut Thank You series!

I gave myself a challenge to go through all the cartridges I own and any that has a thank you type statement I would make a thank you card with it. This was for a couple of reasons. First, I needed to build my stash of thank you notes for whenever I need one. Second, I really want to make sure I use the cartridges I have and I like challenging myself to do so. Third, and probably most important ;), I wanted it for my blog so I could share it with everyone!
There is probably going to be 4 parts to this, containing 5 cards each. Most of the accents on the cards are from Cricut cartridges (except for ribbons, buttons, etc…). I have HUGE stash of old patterned paper and I try to use these up so you might see some from years ago…but that doesn’t bother me! We’ll just call them vintage!

This one is from Lyrical Letters. The size is 4.25x4.25 and the cardstock I used is Bazzill.

This one is from Storybook. The size is 5.5x4.24. The cardstock is just plain black, don’t know the brand. I then sprayed white cardstock with Dew Drop Glimmer Mist and it gave it this shiny silvery look. You can’t really tell in the picture. The Thank You was connected, and I just cut off the piece between the Thank and the You. The little swirl is also from Storybook.

This is from Wild Card. I decided to cut the actual card with one of the cuts from the cartridge as well. I loaded an 8.5x11 sheet of paper and hit fit to page and I believe it came out to be 8” tall! The cardstock is generic gray, although it’s hard to tell. Patterned paper is from an old stash I had.

I then took Ice Stickles and smoothed some over the heart for some sparkle. Here is a close up of that:

Another one from Lyrical Letters:

Size is 5.5x4.25, regular white cardstock, plain black ribbon, and patterned paper from old stash, which I believe was Provo Craft!

Another one from Wild Card, size is 5.5x4.25, regular white cardstock. The color cardstock and patterned paper is from a DCWV stack and the accents on the squares are from Accent Essentials.

Mother's Day Revisted

Well, here I am the last day of vacation before we head home and I miss my mom all over again. We had a great time and were sooo busy I feel like I need to rest just from this vacation.

Since this is my last day here I thought I would share the card I made for my mom for this past Mother's Day. I didn't take a picture of it before I sent it to her, but she still had it out so I took a picture of it now!

I used Wild Card Cricut cartridge for all the cuts, and then I distressed it all with Ranger Distress Ink - although I can't remember which color I used. I cut the matching scalloped envelope, but my mom didn't have that anymore so I couldn't get a picture of it. The cardstock was just some 8 1/2 x 11 paper I have had for a long time and was trying to use up.

We hit the road early in the morning so I better get some packing done! I am sad to leave, but I am thrilled to get back to all my scrapping stuff! I have a bunch of ideas that I can't wait to get started on.

Happy Father's Day

Besides my sons, the two greatest men in my life are my dad and my husband. Both are wonderful fathers and I would like to wish them both a Happy Father's Day!

ETA: I was also blessed to have a wonderful step-father as well. He treated me as if I were his own daughter. I just wanted to acknowledge that on this Father's Day as well. I miss him everyday.

I asked the boys a couple of questions about their dad and their answers had me laughing! I had all intentions of making into a gift for him, but never got to finish it. I'll get to it...hopefully before next Father's Day! I hope you don't mind me sharing!

For my contribution I made him this card, which is not even finished. I started working on it then the boys decided they wanted to go upstairs (my scrap room is with their playroom on our bottom floor - we have 3 levels) and I never got a chance to go back and finish it. It is very simple and very plain, but that fits my husband just fine - no frills and dark colors.


The boys wanted to build Daddy a present so they built these out of blocks:

The one on the left is a fast machine and the one on the right is a rocket ship with it's docking station...and actually when I took this picture I didn't realize that the rocket ship part was missing.

My husband is also a self proclaimed chocoholic! So it wouldn't be a special day for him without baking him something chocolatey. For me, I LOVE the combination of peanut butter and chocolate so it was a no brainer to make these Peanut Butter Bars. I made some changes based on the reviews and they were very yummy!

Plus it finally didn't rain today so the boys were able to play outside for a while! So all in all I would have to say we had a great Father's Day!
